چکیده

INTRODUCTION The aim of this paper is to present a noninvasive method for quantifying the spinal canal hydrodynamic compliance from Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) measurements of volumetric cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) flow. The spinal canal compartment contributes to the overall compliance of the craniospinal system. Thus it plays an important role in regulating craniospinal hydrodynamics and intracranial pressure. Limited information is available on the range of spinal canal compliance values in humans. Even less is known about the distribution of the compliance along the spinal canal, in the healthy and the diseased states, as current methods require injection of fluid into the CSF spaces and thus are associated with risk and morbidity [1].

Bimodal magnetic resonance imaging-computed tomography nanoprobes: A Review

Bimodal imaging combines two imaging modalities in order to benefit from their advantages and compensate the limitations of each modality. This technique could accurately detect diseases for diagnostic purposes. Nanoparticles simultaneously offer diagnostic data via various imaging modalities owing to their unique properties. Moreover, bimodal nanoprobes could be incorporated into theranostic s...

P9: Cervical Spinal Cord Extraction in Patients with Multiple Sclerosis Using Magnetic Resonance Imaging for Measuring Cross-Sectional Area

Multiple sclerosis (MS) refers to the lesions that accumulate in the brain and spinal cord. Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) is the most sensitive and versatile modality used to show changes in the tissues over time. There has been significant interest in evaluating the relationship between the brain atrophy and disease progression rather than the spinal cord atrophy. The cervical spinal cord h...

Segmentation of Magnetic Resonance Brain Imaging Based on Graph Theory

Introduction: Segmentation of brain images especially from magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) is an essential requirement in medical imaging since the tissues, edges, and boundaries between them are ambiguous and difficult to detect, due to the proximity of the brightness levels of the images. Material and Methods: In this paper, the graph-base...

Are magnetic resonance imaging or radiographic findings correlated with clinical prognosis in spinal cord neuropathy?

Dogs presented to the Small Animal Hospital of Veterinary Medicine, University of Tehran were included in the present study if spinal or intervertebral disc involvement was suspected. Clinical signs were recorded as well as general information of the patient such as age, breed and sex. Sixty dogs were examined radiographically and two standard orthogonal lateral and ventrodorsal projections wer...

Dynamic weight-bearing cervical magnetic resonance imaging: technical review and preliminary results.

BACKGROUND Conventional magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) of complex cervical spine disorders may underestimate the magnitude of structural disease because imaging is performed in a nondynamic non-weight-bearing manner. Myelography provides additional information but requires an invasive procedure. METHODS This was a prospective review of the first 20 upright weight-bearing cervical MRI proced...
